A feisty rainbow puts the guide and guest in the fun zone.
On the average Sportsman's guided trip you'll find yourself in this scene about 20 to 50
times a day catching 12-20 inch rainbow.
But it takes more than just fishing knowledge to make a great trip! If you are fishing in
a group our guides work as a team ensuring the groups desires are met. If you want the
experience of a traditional Ozark shore lunch, our guides can cook your morning's catch
and fix all the trimmings. And you will not find safer guides anywhere. Ever vigilant to
changing weather and water conditions, our guides take a high level of concern for your
comfort and well being. All rental and guide boats are modern custom
made river rigs with new electric start motors.
Trophy brown trout may be caught any
time of year.
Richest Trout Fishery
The White River holds four species of trout - German brown, cutthroat, brook, and rainbow.
It is possible to catch all four species in one day. However, most of the fishing in the
river is for smaller rainbows (12 to 20 inches). The White River has produced several
world line-class record trout. Browns in the 10 to 15 pound range are not rare. Rainbows
of up to 5 pounds are also caught several times a year. A 16-inch length minimum on
cutthroats has been effective in producing larger cutthroat of up to 4 or 5 pounds.
Wade after them right in front of
Sportsman's during low water. Our wade fishing guests frequently enjoy all the fishing
action they want right here in front of Sportsman's.
Many knowledgeable anglers claim the White River supports the best moving-water brown
trout fishing in America. One of the primary reasons for this offering of big trout is the
tremendous catch-and-release program advocated by Sportsman's Resort. All brown trout,
cutthroat, and any rainbow over three pounds is considered a trophy trout.
