America's Richest Trout Fishery
The White River holds four species of trout - German brown, cutthroat, brook, and rainbow. It is possible to catch all four species in one day. However, most of the fishing in the river is for smaller rainbows (12 to 20 inches). The White River has produced several world line-class record trout. Browns in the 10 to 15 pound range are not rare. Rainbows of up to 5 pounds are also caught several times a year. A 16-inch length minimum on cutthroats has been effective in producing larger cutthroat of up to 4 or 5 pounds.
